FEEDBACK

The CD arrived !!!!!!! only played it six times so far !!! Wife (Morag) wanted to know if The Dan had a new album out then ????? Authentic or what ??
Particularly liked "Major Dude" and "Old School" and "Black Cow" and .....well all of it really !!!

Absolutely brilliant album! Having seen the live gig I knew it would be somehow. I love every track from PEG (your big debut really is a dream come true) to REELIN', and the album as a whole completely captures that unique Steely Dan thing that can surely only be achieved by the emotional input of the band as well as their undisputed musicianship. The pure joy that the band feel performing this exceptional music (blatantly obvious from the live show ) is successfully transferred to this recording.
Sorry can't write any more-must get back to hear it again!!  DANTASTIC DSO. Thank you.

Many, many thanks for the album, which is simply brilliant. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but the level of playing and performance is superlative. You've captured the spirit of the 'Dan wonderfully for a 12-piece ensemble, combining tight, jazz-inflected arrangements with a real passion and precision. There are several highlights, but Peg and Black Cow in particular are wonderful openers, the sax solo on the latter really setting the track on fire. I also have to mention the atmospheric keyboard intro to Josie which is a beautifully judged piece of musical scene-setting. Down To The Nitty-Gritty is a fine album and one which, because of its quality, places it several notches above the tribute band category.
Well done! Terry Kelly (Shields Gazette) TerenceKell@netscape.net

I was wondering what the guitar solo in Kid Charlemagne would be like. Well, it was the Carlton solo!
What more could anyone expect of the Danny Steel Orchestra? I find this CD a very welcome addition
to my ever growing Steely Dan collection". Diederik van Vleuten (Netherlands) d.vanvleuten@wxs.nl

CD arrived yesterday. Sent the wife to work, kids to bed, opened a  beer and then, what can I say?
You lot are ACE! 13 tracks of excellence. I enjoyed every one including my all time favourite "J0SIE".
I have GOT to see one of your gigs............Well, must go as I'm at work. Keep up the good work.
Hear from you soon, John McDonald (Scotland) john@polaris54.freeserve.co.uk

I've just listened to your 'Don't Take Me Alive', I don't know how long it took your guitarist to work
out the lead but tell him from me (another guitarist) it was worth every second, brilliant.
I've just pulled a list of your dates and some of them are near me
so I gotta come and see you live, see you soon.

To sum up.....It's a  great quality CD, from an Excellent Quality Band...who's efforts and dedication to the Steely Dan sound, we all tried to imitate, at some stage.....brought into our own sitting rooms....and a must for any Steely Dan fan, to add to his/her collection.
